Euro 2016 hosts France will take on Iceland at the national stadium in the tournament’s fourth quarter-final tie on Sunday evening.
Fans approaching the stadium during the afternoon were temporarily stopped as the vehicle was investigated before the explosion at around 5.30pm local time.
According to the Daily Mirror, French police used a small charge to open the door of the car and insist there is “nothing to worry about”.
“If we find a suspicious package, it’s our job to call bomb disposal,” secretary of state for sports Thierry Braillard said.
