Who Pokimane is dating and whether she is dating anyone at all is a popular topic of conversation among her viewers. On occasion, she does give some hints about whether she’s in a relationship or not but she often makes it clear it’s just not something she feels comfortable going into great detail about. While some might be able to arrive at the rather obvious reasons as to why she might keep that sort of thing private, but in one recent appearance she explicitly laid out why she doesn’t enjoy talking about the subject.

The topic came up again when Pokimane’s friend Kevin appeared on one of her streams and her viewers once again started wondering whether he might be more than a friend. As an apparent joke at one point, Kevin turned to the streamer and asked if they were dating. The question made her freeze for a moment and look quite uncomfortable.

Apparently realizing that her reaction might have made people wonder why she looked the way she did, she went into detail as to why that was her reaction. She explained that when people ask her that sort of question, it feels a bit like she’s back in grade school and is being put on the spot.

She asked viewers to put themselves in the shoes of a 13-year-old back in middle school and they were just hanging out minding their own business. “Now imagine if a reporter came and forcibly asked who your crush is,” she added. She then went on to tell her Twitch viewers that she just felt like it was weird to talk about her relationship status, with Kevin or anybody, on stream. For his part, Kevin said he agreed that who she was, or wasn’t dating was “personal life stuff” that wasn’t anyone’s business.

It makes sense that the streamer would want to keep as much of her personal life private and separate from her fans. In the past, Pokimane has been the target of harassment a couple of different times. She’s also had run-ins with other streamers from time to time. Because of her popularity, it appears that she feels as though he has to make sure there’s a bit of distance between her private life and her fans.
