Pokemon Unite has been a popular choice for many MOBA fans with the iconic Nintendo franchise first releasing in July on Switch and later on mobile devices in September. The game has been receiving consistent updates with multiple new Pokemon being added to the game nearly every month. Recent additions saw Pokemon Unite introduce fan favorites like Decidueye and Sylveon and now, Pokemon Unite has officially unveiled the newest Pokemon set to join the game, Tsareena.

A new trailer introduces Tsareena and shows off some of the newly-added Pokemon’s gameplay. Tsareena will be an All-Rounder with melee attacks focused on the Pokemon’s dancing thematic and predominantly featuring kicks. One of Tsareena’s abilities features the Pokemon dancing around enemies dealing damages with its spin kicks and its Unite Move knocks an enemy airborne before delivering a barrage of kicks. The tweet also announces that Trainers logging in after Pokemon Unite’s December 9th update can claim Tsareena’s Unite license for free for a limited time.

While the game has been popular among both MOBA fans and fans of the Pokemon franchise in general, Pokemon Unite has received a fair amount of criticism for its monetization model over the months since its release. Previous complaints about the pay-to-win aspect of the game’s held items system as well as the recent release of particular expensive Pokemon skins has created significant concern among the game’s fanbase about the future of Pokemon Unite’s pricing scheme and use of microtransactions in general.

The release of Pokemon Unite has been just one part of a slew of releases from Nintendo and The Pokemon Company to celebrate the massive franchise’s 25th anniversary. Nintendo has already released multiple Pokemon titles over the course of 2021 including the long-awaited Diamond and Pearl remakes and New Pokemon Snap as a successor to the Nintendo 64 game. With the franchise already gearing up for its next major release in next month’s Pokemon Legends: Arceus and the success of ongoing games like Pokemon GO and Pokemon Unite, Pokemon’s 25th anniversary has been one to remember for the long-running franchise.

Pokemon Unite is available now for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
