However, Pokemon Unite has been teasing even more content coming as the first anniversary celebration continues into September. After numerous teases, a new trailer has finally laid out the game’s plans throughout the month of September, giving fans new reasons to continue logging in each day. The second wave of content kicks off next week on September 2 and brings three new Pokemon, a brand new map, a unique PvE game mode, and plenty of unlockable content to earn or purchase.

The biggest draw for many in a game like Pokemon Unite is the playable roster. After adding 3 Pokemon in August, the game is getting three additional Pokemon throughout September starting with the mythical Mew on September 2. Interestingly enough, Mew is able to learn the most moves and players can actually forget moves to make room to relearn different ones midmatch, making it a matchup nightmare. Later in the month, Dodrio arrives on September 14 followed by Scizor on September 28.
In addition to those three, Pokemon Unite is adding the Theia Sky Ruins map, which was recently revealed at the Pokemon World Championships. It’s a two lane map that features a lot of legendary Pokemon like Rayquaza, Regirock, Regice, Regieleci, and more.
The last major piece to this update is the addition of the Legacy Trainer Showdown event mode, which arrives on September 9 and lasts until October 6. According to the trailer, players will face off against powerful legacy trainers like Cynthia and her Garchomp, Korrina and Lucario, Leon and Charizard, Green with Blastoise, and Raihan with Duraludon. This appears to be a PvE mode where players can earn Trainer Battle Coins to exchange for cosmetics like Leon’s outfit.
With three new Pokemon joining the constantly expanding roster, the trailer also teased new cosmetics at the very end for Mew. Known as Holowear, each Pokemon has a variety of outfits that players can obtain, either by unlocking through in-game currency, or spending real money on premium currency known as Aeos Gems. It’s unknown currently how Mew’s music-inspired outfit can be obtained, but during the 1st anniversary celebration, players can be gifted 5 different looks for Pikachu, Blastoise, Lucario, Snorlax, and Sylveon.
