Crown Zenith is the Perfect Send-Off for Sword and Shield

Silver Tempest will be the last mainline set in the eighth generation of Pokemon TCG. It is a set many fans are looking forward to, as it brings new Radiant Pokemon and Pokemon VSTARs. It will not be the final adventure into the Galar region, however. The Pokemon Company has revealed Crown Zenith, which is a special set that will serve as the perfect goodbye to Sword and Shield’s generation. With over 160 cards in the set, it is not too difficult to complete, though it may be relatively expensive. Most special sets aren’t sold as separate booster packs, meaning that collectors have to purchase Collector’s Tins, Elite Trainer Boxes, and Premium Figure Collections.

Crown Zenith focuses on VSTARs which dominated the competition scene during the eighth generation. Consequently, the set will bring eight new Pokemon VSTARs, as well as 17 Pokemon Vs and 5 Pokemon VMAXes. The set is not just about power, it will also emphasize showcasing some great artwork. Hence, the set will debut three new Radiant Pokemon and 70 cards featuring special artwork from the Galarian Gallery. Interestingly, fans will also have the chance to collect nine special cards that connect to form a larger image. This isn’t the first time Pokemon TCG has done this. With the Morpeko V Union Special Collection, fans receive four separate cards that come together to form a complete illustration of Morpeko the Electric/Dark Pokemon.

Sword and Shield: The End of a Phenomenal Generation

The Sword and Shield generation of Pokemon TCG has been a great one for both card collectors and competitive players. The emphasis on V cards greatly influenced the competitive scene while the introduction of Radiant Pokemon gave collectors something new to hunt for, as they feature illustrations of shiny Pokemon. There were also many beautiful sets released, including the special Pokemon GO set containing illustrations of Pokemon in real-world locations. The set is noteworthy as it features cards that appear normal at first, but have surfaces that peel off to reveal a hidden Ditto beneath.

The ninth generation of Pokemon will have a difficult task trying to outdo its predecessor. However, it seems like things are off to a good start with the Paldea Collection which will start the Pokemon TCG journey in the Paldea region. The upcoming set brings the new Pokemon of Scarlet and Violet to the card game, including the legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon, and it also brings back classic critters like Magnezone, Lucario, and Mimikyu. It remains to be seen how the new generation will handle the Terastal phenomenon and incorporate them into the card game.
