A modder who goes by the username Hollow on Game Banana has replaced one of the most popular Pokemon evolutionary lines with the flagship monster from the Digimon series. The mod itself is a simple skin replacement that replaces the Pokemon’s character model in Pokemon Sword and Shield with the Digimon.

The mod takes Charmander and the related evolutionary line and replaces the classic Pokemon with Agumon and his related evolution tree, without making any changes to how Charmander behaves in-game. This creates a fairly jarring result for fans who may remember the long running competition between the two monster battling franchises. However, the quality of the mod is also surprisingly high, with Agumon blending seamlessly into the art style of Pokemon Sword and Shield, with only a few modelling issues.

The mod even allows for Agumon to evolve into Greymon and Metalgreymon as the underlying Charmander evolves into Charmeleon and Charizard. Charizard also appears as Wargreymon, courtesy of Pokemon Sword and Shield’s massive Pokemon battles. Modder Hollow also has a number of other mods available for Sword and Shield, including a Splatoon font that is highlighted in the above video.

While Pokemon and Digimon have often butted heads, especially among fans pitting the two franchises against each other in memes, putting them together is a fairly welcome sight. It’s doubtful that the two monster battlers will ever come together in anything other than fan creations, but at modders at the very least have answered the call to combine these two long running franchises. Those same modders may even combining the other classics competitors to Nintendo’s giant, like Yu-Gi-Oh and Monster Rancher.

However, crossovers mods like this may be a little more rare due to the fierce competition between Pokemon and Digimon, perpetuated by years of players quickly jumping to take sides.
