In early September, Nintendo and Game Freak shared a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer that unveiled three new Pokemon. Two of those Pokemon were Armarouge and Ceruledge, bipedal and humanoid Pokemon that appear to be sporting armor and a sword, respectively. Armarouge is a Fire/Psychic Pokemon with an arm cannon and Ceruledge is a Fire/Ghost Pokemon that prefers close combat. It seems there could be more to Armarouge and Ceruledge than what’s been shared so far, though.

The new trailer doesn’t confirm a pre-evolution for Armarouge and Ceruledge, to be clear. Rather, there’s a brief glimpse at what looks like a new Pokemon that’s left unacknowledged. The small, blurry Pokemon appears to be bipedal and humanoid, but baby Pokemon-sized. It also has a dark mask on its head, as well as a plume coming from the back of the head. It looks a lot like a miniature version of Armarouge and Ceruledge, but that can’t be said with certainty.
A good reason why many fans are leaping at the possibility of this small Pokemon being a pre-evolution for Armarouge and Ceruledge is due to the leaker Riddler_Khu. Khu has shown to have accurate insider information regarding Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, though they can be frustratingly cryptic. Their latest message is very direct, however, as they made a post on Twitter showing the Pokemon with the comment “Preevo.”
One important detail worth calling attention to from Riddler_Khu’s post is that they say “Preevo” while quoting an image with both Armarouge and Ceruledge, not one or the other. That likely implies this Pokemon evolves into both Armarouge and Ceruledge. Perhaps one will be in Scarlet and the other in Violet, fitting their coloring, or perhaps there’s a more complex method to evolve the Pokemon.
Confirmation of Armarouge and Ceruledge’s pre-evolution will likely have to wait a while longer. Nintendo and Game Freak may choose to fully reveal the Pokemon before launch or they may wait to let players discover the Pokemon for themselves. There are certain to be more trailers and reveals to come in the months ahead, though, so stay tuned.
