There’s no denying that the Pokemon franchise has a massive fan following all over the world, and many of them were eagerly waiting for the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In the days leading up to the release, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were dominating social media. There were trailers, new Pokemon reveals, and plenty of leaked content. Super fans were expecting these two new games to live up to the hype and be some of the best games in the series yet.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were officially launched on Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022. However, within hours of the release, social media was bombarded with complaints. One particular animation - that of a character eating a sandwich - was particularly panned for being unimpressive and unrealistic. The current animation looks like something that was done in a hurry, and it doesn’t look very good.

Players and critics were definitely expecting better from the multi-billion dollar Pokemon franchise. Some players have even gone so far as to create their own fan-made animations of the scene in an attempt to show just how poor the official one is. Some gamers posted animations of Pokemon eating curry in Pokemon Sword and Shield and Pokemon eating sandwiches in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet side by side to show that even the older game’s animations looked better. A few players have also reported glitches and that the older Nintendo Switch models are struggling to handle Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

It’s a shame that instead of talking about the vast new open world, new vibrant characters, and adorable starter designs of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, many players are talking about how the game disappointed them. Game Freak may want to focus on fixing the reported issues, especially those related to graphics and animations, as soon as possible.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is available for the Nintendo Switch.
