Taking the Pokemon games’ trademark blend of exploration and battling and transporting it to a truly open world for the first time in franchise history, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have proven to be somewhat controversial releases for the storied series. While the dueling releases have been clear commercial successes, selling over 10 million copies in three days and becoming the biggest launch in Nintendo history, the poor performance and technical glitches present throughout Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have frustrated many players. Despite these technical glitches, however, the pair of titles have been widely praised for breathing new life into the franchise with the move to an open world.

In a new post on the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit, user iiunvon shared a hilariously disturbing video of a glitch they discovered in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In a post titled “My Ditto done with making more eggs,” a video shows a Ditto happily hopping along as musical notes drift across the screen, before suddenly and gleefully jumping straight off the side of a cliff. The unfortunate Ditto isn’t the only character to fall prey to the game’s seemingly slippery cliffs either, with another player recently sharing a clip of Pokemon Trainer Penny falling off a cliff in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Redditors responding to the strange glitch seemed to find the clip hilarious, with several users chiming in with their own explanation for the Ditto’s unusual behavior. Echoing the sentiment shared by iiunvon in the title of the post, several comments joked that the Ditto must have been tired of being constantly used for breeding in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and was just seeking a way out of servitude. Offering a more practical explanation for the unusual behavior, one comment suggested that the Ditto may have been chasing after a ball that fell off the precariously placed cliff.
Luckily for iiunvon, unlike some of the other glitches discovered in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, this unusual Ditto behavior is amusing rather than annoying or game-breaking. Or maybe the cuddly, amorphous pocket monster was just upset that it didn’t make it on the list of the 10 most popular Pokemon for this year.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
