Though Pokemon Scarlet and Violet continue to be plagued by bugs and weird glitches, such as starting a Pokemon battle while falling off a cliff, that has not stopped players from enjoying the games and making their own fun out of it. With millions of units sold within the first month of release, and with updates planned to continue fixing and improving the games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have stayed prominently in the public spotlight, for one reason or another.

A Redditor by the name of JJKDowell posted their Pokemon roster, which consisted of Baxcalibur, Tinkaton, Meowscarada, Pawmot, Armorouge, and Glimmora. Each Pokemon on the team was a dual-type Pokemon, with no overlapping types of any kind. Using the Terastallization battle gimmick, trainers have the ability to change a Pokemon’s type to a different, single-type once per battle, and any Pokemon can have any type as its Tera-type. With this in mind, JJKDowell changed the Tera-types of their team, which required a week to grind out the needed Tera Shards for each type, and chose to include the six missing Pokemon types on their team. As a result, each of the 18 Pokemon types was represented, without overlap, on JJKDowell’s Pokemon team.
The post received over 4.2k upvotes on Reddit within the first day of posting. The comments section praised JJKDowell’s clever use of type coverage, and for using Tera-types to close the gaps. Some of the comments also noticed that each of JJKDowell’s Pokemon nicknames were references to the Ace Attorney series, while some also commented on how grueling it seemed to grind out the 300 total Tera Shards needed to change the Tera-type for each Pokemon team member. Since 50 Tera Shards are needed for each Tera-type, some of the comments also hoped that The Pokemon Company will add new ways to earn more Tera Shards down the line.
In the meantime, players that want to earn more Tera Shards via Tera Raid Battles will have another chance to catch the Unrivaled Charizard via a seven-star raid weekend. From now until 4 PM PST on Sunday, December 18, this special Charizard will be available for players that missed out on catching it during its first run two weeks ago. With plenty of dedicated players such as JJKDowell, and continued support for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet from The Pokemon Company, a bright future may be on the horizon for the ninth generation of Pokemon.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
