Reddit user Teriyakininja7 recently shared a screenshot from their adventure in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in which the player is using a Terastalized Drakloak in a Pokemon battle. Drakloak and its pre-evolution Dreepy were first introduced in Pokemon Sword and Shield and fans of the Galarian Pokemon are able to find it exclusively in Pokemon Violet in areas near water. To find a Tera form of these Pokemon, players will have to either look for a bright and sparkly version of it walking around the open Paldean world or battle in a Tera raid for a potentially stronger one.

Teriyakininja7’s screenshot focuses on the Terastalized Drakloak that’s using the Normal-type move Tera Blast on an unknown opponent with a Pokemon trainer partially hidden in the background. Each Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Terastalization will alter the appearance of a Pokemon, with Flying-type Tera forms adding balloons, Electric-type using a giant light bulb indicator, and Fairy-type being adorned with a heart and wings. The Reddit post caption states that the Tera crown used for Terastalized Drakloak places the aforementioned Fairy-type crown atop the small Dreepy on its head rather than the Drakloak itself, which is further confirmed by the included screenshot.

When Dreepy evolves into Drakloak, it’s simply joined by a much larger creature than itself similar to Diglett becoming Dugtrio, with the Dreepy laying comfortably on the bigger Pokemon. Because of these Terastal Pokemon details, Game Freak may be suggesting that the smaller Pokemon on top is still the one in charge of the duo which is a choice celebrated by some fans. Given that the little Dreepy disappears with Drakloak’s evolution into Dragapult, this Terastalization may be the only way that a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player sees the special crown placed on top of the tiny Pokemon’s head.

As many Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players stated their enthusiasm for Teriyakininja7’s discovery, others celebrated the attention to detail with the Terastalized form and the Fairy crown used in this case. While some fans lamented that a handful of Tera forms for Pokemon like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Legendary Koraidon, Clawitzer, and Noivern, more versions like Wiglett, Magikarp, and Mimikyu were hailed as great design choices.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
