As any veteran Pokemon fans will know, shiny Pokemon can be identified primarily by a different color scheme to that seen in a Pokemon’s usual form. Their rarity comes as a result of their extraordinarily low chance of spawning naturally, with a shiny Pokemon having around a mere 1 in 4000 chance of spawning under regular conditions. Although recent entries to the world-renowned game series have included a few new features which players can take advantage of to slim the odds of encountering shiny Pokemon, many fans have been hunting them since as far back as the Generation 2 titles. Some hardcore shiny hunters in the community even push themselves to find shiny Pokemon exclusively at full-odds, refusing to use any items that expedite their encounters with the rare Pokemon.

Despite their rarity, several generous Pokemon fans decided to collectively gift a whole team of shiny Luvdisc to a player with a noticeable affection for the cute fish Pokemon. Although the Luvdisc-loving player prefers to remain anonymous, their sibling known as Hippomaster1234 on Reddit made a post celebrating this act of kindness from the community. The post served as a follow-up to one that they made earlier, which shared the Luvdisc enthusiast’s accomplishment of beating the entire main story of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet with nothing but a team of Luvdisc, each with their own fantastic nicknames. The user also added a comment expressing their thanks for the users Skiadrum99, owlitup, Appropriate_Tip_3192, Extra-Succotash4831, and Herald_of_Perfection on Reddit, who were the players kind enough to gift the shiny Luvdisc.

Though shiny hunting is a common activity for many Pokemon fans, part of its appeal is how it allows players to set their own personal challenges for themselves and work toward completing them. For example, some extreme Pokemon enthusiasts go as far as tasking themselves with completing a “Shiny Dex,” which involves catching a shiny version of every single Pokemon in the Pokedex. Others simply aim to catch shiny versions of their favorite Pokemon only.

Shiny hunting has been something of a controversial topic among Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players so far however, due to the game’s removal of shiny effects and sounds making it difficult for players to spot the rare creatures in the wild. Many Pokemon fans are in disagreement whether shiny hunting should be made easier either, but whatever the case, it’s safe to say that shiny Pokemon always make for a great gift to trade with other players.
