This information originates from a leaker known as Kaka. Some of their claims have been backed up by proven Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leakers, and so while fans should take the information with a grain of salt, there’s more weight to the claims than other, random leaks that appear online. In any case, the leak suggests that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will not have fishing or bike riding.

Fishing has been used in Pokemon games for years as one of the primary ways players encounter water-type Pokemon. Otherwise, the only way would be to “surf” on the water, which is an ability that has traditionally come later in the games. Assuming the leak is accurate, it will be interesting to see how exactly Pokemon Scarlet and Violet handle water-type Pokemon encounters.

The leaks also claim that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will not have a bike for players to ride. Like fishing, biking has been a mainstay in the main series Pokemon games, usually as a way for players to boost their movement speed, which has sometimes been required to progress through certain areas. But while biking will apparently not be returning in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the leaks suggest that there will be an alternative method of travel in the games.

The leaks say that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon can be ridden by the player, effectively utilizing them as the games’ bike-equivalent. This makes sense as both Koraidon and Miraidon have what appear to be wheels on their chests, with some already likening their designs to motorcycles. However, the question remains exactly when fans will encounter the legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as they have traditionally been saved for the end of the games.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are open world games, with players have no restrictions on where they explore right from the start. Considering this, it’s certainly within the realm of possibility that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will be able to obtain their respective box art legendary relatively early on, depending on where they go. However, it should be stressed that this is purely speculation based on unproven leaks, and so fans should wait for official information.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
