The bugs present in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet range from hilarious oversights in scripted Pokemon behavior to less harmless issues with the games’ performance. While those problems somewhat diminish the overall gameplay experience, the fandom still appears to be largely unphased by Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s overall lack of polish, as evidenced by the fact that the two games have already sold millions of units.

The newly uncovered bug is yet another candidate for the harmless-yet-hilarious category of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet glitches. Namely, a gameplay clip shared by Reddit user cdfury03 shows their Baxcalibur trapped in an upside-down position during a Tera Raid battle against a Sandaconda. While its allied creatures remained fully animated, the inverted Baxcalibur model was completely static as a result of the bug. Several fans claimed to have previously experienced the same glitch in response to the video.

Baxcalibur is a pseudo-legendary Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Its Dragon-Ice dual-typing makes it somewhat viable in competitive play, though it is mostly limited to playing the role of a glass cannon. One Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan reacting to the footage said that this was the first time they ever saw a Baxcalibur survive a hit, strange pose or not.

As for the glitchy behavior, the issue doesn’t appear to be limited to Baxcalibur, as another player reported to have experienced the same bug while using their Annihilape, who then remained stuck upside-down for three turns. Either way, the glitch appears to be triggered by an opponent creature landing a hit. Nintendo already vowed to keep polishing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet moving forward, but it is unlikely that visual bugs such as whatever is triggering this strange pose are high on Game Freak’s list of priorities.

Despite being quite substantial in volume, none of the technical problems affecting Game Freak’s latest RPGs have seemingly impacted their commercial performance. Nintendo recently announced that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet hit 10 million sales within the first three days on the market, which makes this release the company’s fastest-selling game ever.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
