Among the new Pokemon coming in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, perhaps none are odder than Smoliv. This small Grass/Normal-type Pokemon stands out due to its unique appearance; it looks like an olive. As a result of this unusual design, many fans have taken notice of Smoliv and have decided to make fan art based on it.

Recently, one fan known as Pablo_MGN posted a picture to Reddit based on the Pokemon franchise. Specifically, this image starred the newly announced Smoliv from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In the scene created by the artist, the Pokemon sat in a dish with a group of olives. The background was composed of a blue table with a red wall behind it, helping the objects in the foreground pop. In addition, the Smoliv had its signature worried expression as though it was unsure if it was about to be eaten.

Beyond sharing a picture of Smoliv from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Pablo_MGN provided some details about creating the Pokemon. While the picture looked like the Smoliv figure was made in real life, the Reddit user revealed that they designed the scene in the 3D computer graphics software called Blender. This only added to the impressiveness of the artwork, as the image appeared as though it was a physical recreation due to the realistic lighting and textures.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of gamers have taken a liking to this recreation of Smoliv made by Pablo_MGN. In only a few days, the post has already managed to gain over 4,500 upvotes on Reddit. While some complimented the artist on a job well done, some even noted that they were having a hard time figuring out if it was real or rendered. “That’s insane i thought this was a real plastic toy,” one user commented.

Interestingly, this is far from the only fan art featuring this unique-looking Pokemon. Since its reveal in the latest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer, numerous other fans have decided to try replicating this Grass/Normal-type Pokemon’s design. For example, one gamer recently decided to come up with their own interpretation of what the evolution of Smoliv might look like in the upcoming game. As more gamers learn about this new Pokemon, it seems a safe bet to assume even more fan art featuring the pocket monster will surface on the internet in the coming days.
