Though the second trailer is roughly the same length as the first reveal trailer of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that was released three months ago, fans will likely agree that it provided meatier updates. The second trailer showcased a bunch of new and returning Pokemon and also previewed battle gameplay and in-game player travel. However, fans were likely more intrigued by the unique animation at the end of the trailer, which revealed Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s legendary Pokemon and the official release date of the video games.

On Reddit, user LoafyCrumble shared a short animated clip they created that featured the three starters of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In the animation, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly are sharing the screen, with a retro pixel dialogue box showcasing the words, “Choose wisely!” This likely alludes to the important decision that all Pokemon video game players have to make when choosing between the three starters in every generation. Each of the starters also make their own cute movement according to the artist’s interpretation of their personality.
Replies on the Reddit thread showed the typical discourse that most Pokemon players have when it comes to their favorite starter Pokemon. However, some have pointed out that they would likely start the game with Lechonk, a new pig Pokemon that was only revealed in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s second trailer. Some commenters have shared that though their preferences lie on either Sprigatito, Quaxly, or Fuecoco, they generally like all three Pokemon. Given that there are two versions of the game, hardcore players have a chance to pick their other favorite starter if they choose to do a second playthrough.
With still a few months before the launch date of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, The Pokemon Company still has a lot of time to give the community more information about the game. The new region where the title takes place remains unnamed, so fans are likely hopeful that the next updates will give details about the game’s setting.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will release on November 18, 2022, for the Nintendo Switch.
